Routine appointments

We operate an appointment system for all our clinics.

Appointments can only be booked in the surgery after 9:00 am and will depend on availability.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Your appointment

Each appointment is 10 minutes long, and is for one problem per appointment; when too many problems are booked into one appointment then we cannot guarantee the best care for you. If you require a longer appointment, please inform reception when booking.

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Home visits

Please telephone the surgery on 01254 52522 or 01254 699948 before 11:00am if you require a home visit, and give as much information as possible.

Home visits are made at the discretion of the doctor. Please do not ask the doctor to call unless you are genuinely too ill to attend the surgery. The doctor can see as many as five patients in surgery in the time taken to make one home visit.

You may also be passed on to the Acute Visiting Service (AVS) who will attend on your regular GP’s behalf. This means that a GP will come out to see you at home but may not be your regular GP that you are familiar with.

Extended Access

We are pleased to offer our extended hours service on Tuesdays from 6.30pm – 7.30pm and on Wednesdays from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

Please note these appointments are provided for employed patients and full-time carers who are unable to attend the surgery during normal clinic times.

Should you wish to attend late afternoon or bring a child who may be at school please note there are appointments available.

Local Primary Care
The practice is also a member of Blackburn with Darwen’s Local Primary Care GP federation. Local Primary Care federation runs a GP extended access service that provides additional appointments at four neighbourhood GP extended access surgeries. Patients can be booked into one of the four GP extended access surgeries via the practice receptionists accordingly. Please ask at reception for more information.
